Ramadan Mubarak! Best Skincare Practices to help with Hydration
Ramadan Mubarak! Ramadan is such a special holiday and can be a very busy time for those observing. It can definitely take a toll on your body - even if you are just taking it easy - that pre-iftar nap hits different ;)
Ramadan can be physically taxing and your skin is a huge part of your physical health. If you are feeling fatigued after a whole day of fasting, pay attention to what you fill your body with after, as the effects of food can show up on your skin. Here are some of our best practices we recommend for taking care of your skin during the beginning of Ramadan:
- Drink warm water (with lemon is a plus) - your body retains/absorbs warm water more than cold.
- Carry a natural face mist - this will keep your skin supple during the day when you are unable to hydrate.
- Add in Glow Getter to your face wash daily - this will deposit nutrients and moisture deep within your skin on a cellular level.
- Eat foods high in protein first, then deep green veggies. After that, carbs and starchy foods - this will keep your skin firm and keep you full for longer.
- Focus on gut health by breaking your fast with homemade miso soup, to nourish your gut - this will create a beautiful glow to your skin. Surprisingly, miso is so easy to find! Add it to hot water and voila! Miso soup!
- Switch to a richer moisturizer, to avoid dehydrated skin - we love Drunk Elephant's Protini cream.
- Apply Glow to Sleep serum-oil every night - this will speed up cell turnover, fading dark spots which often become more pigmented if dehydrated.
- Load up on water dense fruits and veggies like watermelon, citrus fruits, cucumbers, bok choy, green juices, pineapples - all foods that will help rehydrate your body. FYI - celery juice is probably the best thing you can break your fast with.
In addition to those, here are some things you can add to your Ammu Beauty masks to maximize their benefits:
- Yogurt: will add moisture to your skin, tone the skin and smooth fine lines
- Milk: will fade hyperpigmentation and remove acne causing bacteria
- Honey: a gentle, antibacterial exfoliator that will deeply cleanse pores
- Lemon: an anti-fungal astringent that will fade hyperpigmentation
- Avocado: extra hydrating and will decrease extra oil production and minimize fine lines
- Apple cider vinegar: anti-microbial which will restore natural ph balance and keep moisture in and irritants out
We hope you take into consideration some of these tips and practices to ensure your skin is getting its needs met throughout Ramadan - we love to see everyone stay hydrated, healthy and beautiful this Ramadan!
